Grade calculation is complicated in most cases. 10Converters.com provides online tool which helps over 1,400,000 students and teachers across the world every year. This grader(like rogerhub or ben eggletson) accepts percentage, letter and point grades as input. Whatever you are from a university or from a high school, it works for you.
To calculate overall grade from assignment grades by percentage, click on percentage tab. Assessments are optional, they will not be taken into accounts during calulation. The result is weighted average grade.
gn: grade of the nth assessment
wn: weight of the nth assessment
Grade = ( g1×w1+ g2×w2+ g3×w3+...+ gn×wn)÷ (w1+w2+w3+...+wn)
Think about a student got scores in percentage like the following table:
Assessment | Grade | Weight |
---|---|---|
Quiz | 90% | 20% |
Midterm | 91% | 30% |
Homework | 92% | 20% |
Final | 93% | 30% |
The class weighted grade would be:
Grade = (90x20+91x30+92x20+93x30) ÷ (20+30+20+30) = 91.6
Click on letters tab, if your grades are letter based. The letter grade calculator maps letters to numbers according to the grading scale table below. Schools or universities may use different grading scale, so that the result would be slightly different. Please report to us if it's not accurate enough for your school/university.
gn: grade of the nth assessment
wn: weight of the nth assessment
Grade = ( g1×w1+ g2×w2+ g3×w3+...+ gn×wn)÷ (w1+w2+w3+...+wn)
Think about a student got grades in letters like the following table:
Assessment | Grade | Weight |
---|---|---|
Quiz | A | 20% |
Midterm | A | 30% |
Homework | A- | 20% |
Final | B+ | 30% |
The class grade would be:
Grade = (4*20+4*30+3.67*20+3.33*30) ÷ (20+30+20+30) = 3.73(A-)
Letter | Percentage | Scale |
---|---|---|
A+ | 95 | 4.33 |
A | 93 | 4 |
A- | 90 | 3.67 |
B+ | 87 | 3.33 |
B | 83 | 3 |
B- | 80 | 2.67 |
C+ | 77 | 2.33 |
C | 73 | 2 |
C- | 70 | 1.67 |
D+ | 67 | 1.33 |
D | 63 | 1 |
D- | 60 | 0.67 |
F | 0 | 0 |
Tab 'Points' provides the calculator by points. There's a max points for each assessment. It means how many points you could get from an assessment in case of you have a perfect grade. Result is average grade of the class.
gn: grade of the nth assessment
mn: max points of the nth assessment
Grade = (g1+g2+g3+...+gn) ÷ (m1+m2+m3+...+mn)
Think about a student got scores in percentage like the following table:
Assessment | Grade | Max Points |
---|---|---|
Quiz | 55 | 60 |
Midterm | 90 | 100 |
Homework | 91 | 100 |
Final | 92 | 100 |
The class weighted grade would be:
Grade = (55+90+91+92) ÷ (60+100+100+100) = 91.11(A-)
